How to Overcome Obstacles

ID-100123059I had been working tirelessly on a project that could have been life and business changing when I got some information that was going to hurt the project in a big way. The Obstacle had presented itself and I started to feel anxious and on edge pretty much immediately. I could have rolled over there and then and just felt defeated and depressed. However, I decided to do whatever it took to find a meaning for the situation that meant that it was actually good news.

Nothing has any meaning beyond the meaning that you give it.

I wanted to make a video as soon as this happened because unexpected obstacles is one of the main things that I get asked about. I wanted to share with you how I face the obstacle straight away and how I overcome it as quickly as possible. No matter how positive you are ‘Life is going to Happen’ and sometimes it’s going to smack you in the face. However, the main thing that we have to do is DECIDE to believe in a positive outcome and change the way that you are viewing the situation straight away. This will allow you to get back to it and making progress as quickly as you possibly can.

The Video is Below:

As I said, you ARE going to encounter adversity in your life and if you follow my process of how to overcome obstacles, your life will never be the same again. It is up to us and only us to find the empowering possibilities that the obstacle could be giving us. You can begin to do this immediately by asking the empowering questions that I also use in my morning ritual like “What’s the best thing about this?” or “What is the fastest most fun way for me to turn this around?”. I always say that your mind is like Google; ask it a question and it has to give you answer. Ask a better question and you’ll get a better answer.

What if Life wasn’t happening TO you and it was happening FOR you?

The above is a belief that I have internalised. No matter what happens, I always believe: “Everything that is happening in my Life is happening to ultimately make my life even better”. I have trained myself to find the positive in any situation, I just have to find it.

Nothing in Life will last FOREVER, no matter how much it feels that way sometimes. I have also taken on the belief “This obstacle hasn’t come to stay, it has come to pass”. Of course, it always does. Realise that you can jump up, take positive action and keep going until you win.

Just picking up a tiny tip from this Blog Post will serve you. I know that there may be obstacles in your life at the moment and you have to train yourself to believe that things will work out your favour and turn out how you want them to as long as you keep moving forward.

5 Keys to Success that I Learned from John Legend

141372052620141014IMG_1008I am always on the lookout for things to learn from Successful people and when I went to see John Legend Live 2 weeks ago, I was not disappointed. The man oozes confidence, success and happiness in such a ‘cool’ way. When you listen to him speak in between songs you can tell that he has learned a lot on the way up and is very inspirational when he talks about it. Thankfully for everyone at the concert he gave away a lot about his journey and some of the keys to his success. I have narrowed it down to ‘5 Keys to Success’ that I believe have helped John Legend become who he is today.

1. Know How Great you are (and be Proud of it!)

There was just something about the way that John moved. The way he sat at the piano and perhaps the biggest give away to his confidence was the way he received applause. He just sort of stood there and looked so centred and confident whilst nodding a sort of ‘yea, I know I’m good’ style. For whatever reason in today’s society we have been culturally persuaded to think that knowing how good we are will be perceived as arrogant. Not True. You will rapidly increase your chances of success if you realise how great you and begin to accept it. Of course, be gracious just like Mr. Legend was but in your head you can be saying the most ‘arrogant’ things in the world. Think about it; how often do you let that little voice in your head say ridiculously negative things and get away with it? If you’re going to have inner conversation you might as well do what John Legend obviously does so well and be very positive about yourself.

2. Stand on the Shoulders of Giants

Why would you want to struggle and strain your way to the top when you can use the help and talents of other people? John Legend talked about spending time with multiple grammy award winners Lauryn Hill and Kanye West. It is clear that John was able to learn a lot from people like this and he featured on Lauryn Hill’s album and supported Kanye West on his tour. Sometimes you have to be prepared to live and learn from the success of others and even hang on to their coat tails a little bit. These days, John Legend has had many successful albums and tours of his own.

3. “Sometimes our Dreams Take a Detour”

John told a wonderful story of how he moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He remembered how this didn’t go so well at the start and he actually spent some time as a management consultant! He laughed at the memory and came out with one of the most inspirational quotes I have ever heard live: “Sometimes our Dreams take a Detour”. Amazing. What John is saying is, of course the plan was to go to New York and become a recording artist straight away but sometimes you have to be aware that the path you take isn’t necessarily going to be ‘Plan A’.

4. Keep Going…

You, me or anyone that has read anything about ‘Success’ has come across this piece of advice many, many times. It was however, refreshing to hear the details of a story directly from someone as successful as John Legend. As mentioned above, he was a management consultant when he wanted to be a full time singer but he would still sing by night in a New York City Bar. He talked about the fact that there was only ever 5 people in attendance and 3 of those were bar staff! John didn’t let this deter him and he just kept on and on until he was successful.

5. Do it for the People Close to you

John Legend’s 2 best performances of the night were a Song that he dedicated to his late grandmother and ‘All of me’ which is the number 1 that he wrote for his new wife. This is not a coincidence. These 2 people obviously mean an awful lot to him and no doubt provide the motivation, passion and belief to carry on working hard and making music. We can all use this to our advantage. Think of someone close to you or someone that you were close to that is no longer with us and dedicate your endeavours to them. This has been massive for me personally and you will be motivated and ultimately successful as a result.

My Life Design – How to be Happy, How to Be Productive and How to Achieve Goals Faster

We are always hearing people talk about ‘balance’ when it comes to their life aren’t we? Would you like to create a design for ID-100213932your life so that you will be happier, more productive and achieve your goals faster?

Many people face the challenge that is the balancing of every area of their lives; whether it be the job, the business, the finances, the marriage, the health or the leisure time. I suffered with this challenge for many, many years and even when I first started coaching, I was still challenged by it. That was until I found a way to design my life and act on that design every single day.

I have created and refined this process over the last 3 years learning and applying information from some of the giants of personal development and success like Tony Robbins, Paul Mckenna and many more. During this Blog Post and the video below I am going to talk about  the whole life design process and how I make sure that I am ‘Living Into’ the life I have designed every single day. I am going to share with you how you can design your ‘Ideal Life‘, how to find a purpose in everything that you do, how to have a clear vision of who you are and how to mould these different things into exciting goals and achieve them. Now it is important that I add, that a lot of the information may seem a little ‘Out There’ at first but it isn’t magic. The techniques are based on real scientific results that you can get in your body, mind and life. Watch the Video Below and check out the rest of the Blog Post for more detail.

Your Ideal Life

This one of the very first things that I did when I decided that I wanted to create an amazing life for myself and other people. This first step is MASSIVE because having your Ideal Life written down in front of you, that you can read every day will make you excited and open your mind to the motivation because you are aware of the life that you are heading towards.

In my experience people lack this concept of an ideal life in front of them, what I call a ‘Fantastic Future’. People aren’t suffering from a lack of motivation all the time, they just haven’t designed a life to look forward to, so why bother? Why even get up in the morning?

When you were watching the video you saw how passionate and excited I got when I was describing my ideal life and all of the things it is going to entail. I have included my vision below to give you a couple of ideas but the key thing is to design your ideal life based on what is right for YOU because everyone is different. If there were no limits, what you design for your life? What life would excite you? What do you want your life to mean?  Answer these questions and picture your ideal life, take pen and write down everything that comes to mind no matter how far fetched you think that is right now. Here is mine for some ideas (notice how it is in the present tense, which is conditioning my mind):

My Ideal Life

“I am a person that is a true inspiration and leader in the world of personal transformations, personal development, writing, speaking, seminars, sports, health, trading, life coaching and golf.

I’m spiritually connected to the memory of my grandfather and connected to the universe in such a way that I feel like I have control over it.”

When you have completed this for yourself, I promise that with repetition and a belief that looking forward to this fantastic future will mean that the quality of your daily life will increase every day.

Why Bother?

The next part of the process is to really get in touch with the reasons why you are here in this life. This will accompany the design of your Ideal Life and answer the question “Why should I even bother creating my ideal life?” My WHY’S pretty much just read like a list and when I read them every day it gives me enough power to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to make my ideal life a reality. My ‘Why’s’ are listed below and hopefully it will help you create yours. Again, we are all different and you can get going by answering questions like “What will achieving my ideal life give me?” and “What will it cost me if I don’t achieve it?”

Why do I Want It?

I am here to humbly serve humanity by being a passionate example of the unlimited possibilities that life offers.

I am here to sincerely love everything in the universe and appreciate the miracle that is everything as well as every moment.

I am here to live life to the fullest because my life has a meaning and a purpose and to honour this is the most powerful way to show my respect for myself and for my place in the universe by endeavouring to become more myself so I can set up strong example of what’s possible for others because I believe that you only have one life and you have to enjoy the process.

I make sure that my friends, family and loved ones are absolutely certain of my love for them.

I am here to feel excited about my life and what I can give, share and experience.

I am here to have an amazing time, create an unbelievable and inspirational story and leave behind a legacy that grows and inspires my friends and family for generations to come. I am here for those Magic Moments. I am here to Live Life on my terms. I will never settle for less than I can be, do create or give.

I am here to honour the memory of my Grandfather. I am here to give Katie her Dream Life. I am here to care and provide for mum the way she has always cared and provided for me. I am here to thank Nan for all she has done for me and for the family. I am here to repay Dad’s unwavering support and belief in me. I here to live in financial Freedom and help others do the same

I am here to be a living example of the endless possibilities of humanity. I am here to be an inspiration to others. I am here to be a role model. I am here to be remembered and leave a legacy. I am here to be a leader. I am here to create a financial situation where I have the freedom to do what I want, when I want. So I can travel the world. So I can live my perfect day. I am here to live beyond 100 years of age. I am here for Health, Wealth, and excitement. I am here for big smiles, to be playful, to be inspirational and to be energetic

Who are You?

You have big dreams, you have an idea why you want to achieve those dreams but are you really the person you need to be in order to get it done? A great thing to do is to create a vision of yourself where you keep your ‘true core’ and include features that you know the ‘best version of yourself’ will have. This can even include things that aren’t quite true…yet. You can then grow into this version of yourself. Take a look at mine below to give you an idea of what I mean. You can make this clearer in your head by asking questions like: “Who am I?” and “Who do I want to be?”

Who Am I?

I’m an extraordinary, passionate and loving man who loves people, family, friends, animals, changing lives & ideas that make a difference.

I love to discover and be creative. I love nature, beaches, beautiful scenery, travel, adventure, oceans, rivers, mountains, lakes, sunshine, wildlife and breathtaking views. I am a passionate man who takes the good things in life and makes them phenomenal and loves to share them openly, lovingly, passionately and playfully with others. I’m a massive source of inspiration. I’m a man with exceptionally high standards and excellent daily habits.

I’m a creator of possibilities, options, solutions, choices, opportunities and visions. I’m a creator of fun and laughter. I’m a creator of breakthrough moments. I’m an example of what’s possible. I’m an amazing, boyfriend, friend, son, grandson, nephew, mentor, strategist, Foreign Exchange Trader, personal transformation coach, internet marketer, public speaker, entrepreneur, student, teacher, author, visionary and strategic planner.

I’m fun, I’m silly, and I’m playful. I’m outrageous, I’m adventurous and spontaneous.

I test the realms of possibility. I’m happy and fulfilled. I’m and athlete. I’m an author. I’m a great golfer. I’m a playful kid who can make anyone smile. I’m confident. I’m powerful I’m masculine. I’m attractive and handsome. I’m at one with the universe. I’m a leader. I’m a great listener, I’m a master communicator. I’m committed. I’m patient.

What is your Vision? Why do you Want it? and Who Are You? In Every Area of your Life!

To really crank up this process you also need to do the above for every area of your life (Health/Fitness/body, Finances, Career,  Relationships, Contribution/Charity etc.) As an Example, my Health/Fitness/Body version is below:

Ideal Health and Body

I am 12 Stone  with 7% body fat, I am vital, healthy, energetic, athletic, muscled and ripped. I have a clearly visible 6 pack. I look in the mirror and smile and I feel proud. I feel outstanding, I have a high self-esteem, I feel confident. I am an inspiration for others.

Why?

I enjoy being muscled, toned and an inspiration for others. I enjoy being confident. I enjoy having non-stop energy. I enjoy the fact I am going to live beyond 100 years old. I enjoy staying young, healthy and vibrant.

Who Am I?

I’m a an athlete. I’m a manifestation of vibrant health and energy. I’m a peak performer. I’m an exemplar of physical health, vitality and strength.

You may be thinking that this is a long process. It is! However, what you’ll discover is, it’s worth it! Designing your life this way and working out why you want it and who you are is a gift that you will thank yourself for, forever!

Achieve a Goal in 30 Days!

Take one area of your life and work back from your ‘ideal’ and set a goal that will be a stepping stone to that vision when you achieve it! For Example if you wanted a certain level of health and physicality and at the moment you consider yourself ‘lazy’, you could set a goal something like “Over the last 30 Days, I have exercised for at least 30 minutes 3 times per week”. Achieve this and you will be sending a powerful “I can do this!” message to your mind. Every time that you do this in each area of your life, setting the goal isn’t enough, you must execute the final 2 parts of the process with all of your heart…

Robust Strategies and Abundant Action

No matter what your vision is for your life, no matter how noble your reasons might be; you need strategies that are highly workable and be prepared to do a LOT of stuff!

This process isn’t easy but it’s simple. Build an Ideal Life in your mind, why you want it, who you are, set your goals accordingly and then LIFT OFF! When I say ‘robust strategies’ I mean strategies that are designed to be flexible and get results.

Around 3% of people will take action on this to the point where their lives improve forever and that’s cool. Just make sure you are one of them! How to be More Positive

ID-10047087I have found life a lot more simple with a positive attitude. The challenges of life are going to come your way no matter what happens and I have discovered that these challenges become a LOT easier to deal with if you are more positive. Ever since I became interested in personal development I have been shocked by how negative most people are and how as a society we are almost ‘addicted’ to negativity. Moving away from this negative way of life will be a massive step in the direction of achieving your life’s goals before you even do anything.  Below you’ll find 7 Steps that will be valuable to you if you are trying to discover how to be more positive.

[Video Blog] – Text Blog Below.

1. Don’t React, ‘Choose’ to Respond.

There is no need whatsoever to bounce through life constantly reacting to the things that happen to you. You can choose exactly how to respond. Become aware of that small period of time where you have a choice. For example, you get up in the morning and you stub your toe. You can ‘react’ negatively: “oh no, I’m such an idiot…ow, ow, ow. Today is going to be such a bad day!” (sounds familiar right?). However, you can choose your response: “how funny, it makes me slightly peeved when I do that but if I’m honest it didn’t hurt that much….time for breakfast. Wonderful!” This may take a little practice and I promise it will change your life.

2. Be Thankful as Often as Possible

I have written about this topic many times recently and it really is a very simple way to be more positive. You have so many things to be grateful for as long as you are honest with yourself. Focusing on all of the things that you are grateful for is an amazing way to feel even better if you are in a good mood and a rapid way to go from angry to positive.

3. Move Positively!

This particular information changed my life and it has changed the lives of anyone that has been touched by it. If you aren’t feeling positive or confident, start to act like it and the feelings will follow suit. Force that smile on your face, puff your chest up and throw your shoulders back and be amazed by what happens. Even if it feels silly and you start laughing at yourself…it’s worked because you’re laughing.

4. Avoid Comparisons with other People

Comparing yourself to others can often be a fast track to feeling negative. Each time you notice that there is something different about you you will begin to focus on it and it will bring you down. Spend your time focusing on how you are always looking to become an even better version of yourself and you will be more positive.

5. Stay Present

I once heard an amazing expression from the Director of a company that I used to work for, he said “If you live with one foot in the past and one foot in the future, you are running the risk of urinating on the present!” Whilst this may not be a very pleasant analogy it gets the message across doesn’t it? If you are letting your thoughts move into the past or the future too often you will let your head drop and become negative. Bring yourself into the present moment and appreciate :).

6. Focus on What you Want

We have all seen the infant proudly carrying their beaker filled with drink, a big smile on their face, having no problems with it whatsoever. Then the parent says “Don’t spill it!” and wham, the drink goes everywhere. The parent and consequently, the child have started to focus on what they don’t want. Can you guess what happens if you think “I don’t want to be negative, I don’t want to be fat, I don’t want to be broke”? Focusing on what you want will get you more of what you want and as a beautiful by-product you will be more positive.

7. Fail Forward

Failure is once again something that produces a positive or negative response based on the choices that you make. Failure can only produce a negative reaction if you choose to see it as final. However, you can let it produce a positive, excited response in a similar way to the great Thomas Edison by realising that each temporary defeat is taking you closer to the ultimate goal. View each ‘failure’ as positive fuel to thrust you towards success and a negative reaction will not be possible. I genuinely wish you the positive daily life that you can create for yourself. Follow the steps above that work for you and mix it with your own ideas that will make a real difference. How to Overcome Fear And Improve Your Life Quickly

Watch the Video Blog Below on How to Overcome Fear and read the Blog Post Below

ID-100262240As time progresses I am getting more and more passionate about sharing videos and blog posts that contain ideas that have changed my life. One thing that I have had to do consistently is overcome fears. The exciting thing that I have discovered is that you can actually use fear to your advantage as opposed to being paralysed by it. The strategies that I am going to describe have been invaluable to me and some of my clients that have been suffering from the symptoms of fear.

You may be in a situation where you are doing anything and everything instead of doing the thing that you are scared to do. These tools on how to overcome fear will change your life in the same way that they have changed mine. They are the tools that I have learned and developed that allow me to work hard and smart on my goals every single day. They help me to take action on the things that improve my life, they help me to eat well, train hard and build my business.

Each and every time you find yourself not doing what you know you SHOULD be doing it’s because you’re not being totally honest with yourself as to how important the task actually is. You are subconsciously avoiding the things that scare you a little bit even though they’ll take you to where you want to go. That ‘Little Voice’ in your head starts saying things like “Ah it’s okay, you can do it later” or “It won’t make that much of a difference” or “I just don’t want to do it right now” or whatever ever other nonsense the little voice in your head is telling you.

ID-100174428You have to have the presence of mind to consciously say to that voice “STOP!..that is absolute rubbish! Ultimately, what price will I have to pay if I don’t do this right now? What major impact could it have on my life if I don’t do it?”

It is getting head on with the gravity of the situation that will get you back on track and making progress in spite of fear.

I often simplify human behaviour as a drive to gain good feelings or a drive to avoid bad feelings.

If you are not getting on with something, it is because you think that you’ll feel bad in some way if you do it. You have managed to associate bad feelings in some way to the task. This was useful when humans wanted to avoid the bad feelings of being in the presence of a Lion in the wild, however, it is often not as useful now. If you really sat down and thought about how much worse the bad feelings of being obese, with no energy and a likely early grave are than the good feelings of eating that extra cake are you’ll see the power of this idea. We often find ourselves focusing on the immediate good feelings that we will have without considering the long term bad feelings.

There are many Questions you can ask yourself to change your focus to the overall impact on the quality of your life. Here are some that I use to realise the bad feelings that are coming my way if I keep living in this fearful, negative way:

“What will be the overall effect on my life if I keep doing this?”

“What price will I pay in my health, relationships and finances?”

“What will I deny myself in my life if I keep living like this?”

“What has living like this already cost me?”

Here are the questions that I ask myself to induce the good feelings that I will experience if I do the things that will make my life better, even though I may be fearful:

“How will my life improve by doing this?”

“How does doing it move me closer to achieving my BIG goals?”

“How will doing this improve my health, finances and my relationships?”

“Why will I be grateful in 20 years time for doing it?”

ID-10022465I have found that fear can be a sneaky temptress and you can be subconsciously fearful of all sorts of bad feelings that you didn’t even no existed. For example, at the back of your mind, you may believe that if you become a millionaire all of your friends will be jealous and no one will like you. This fear will lead you to link bad feelings to being a millionaire and therefore make you procrastinate and not work on creating financial freedom for you and your family.

The secret is to ask these questions with every choice that you face; fries or salad? Write a business plan or Browse Facebook? Gym or TV? Do you see how often we are faced by these choices?

If you still find yourself not making progress on your goals because of pesky little subconscious fears it is because you haven’t been totally honest with yourself yet.

You cannot get to the point where you know how to overcome fear by just thinking about the good feelings and the bad feelings on an intellectual level. You have to truly FEEL them at your emotional centre. Experience the intense good feelings of being a happy, healthy, success at your very core and experience the overwhelming bad feelings of being an overweight failure and you really are on the road to lasting change.

The fact of the matter is you KNOW that you should be more afraid of what your destructive habits are doing to you but do you actually feel it?

Self Esteem for Teens

ID-100112502It is easy to let your mind drift as a teen when you have so much going on in your life. I remember it well: am I going to pass this next batch of exams? Am I going to get in the football team? Is ‘that girl’ really interested? I became aware at a young age that there are two possible directions that your mind can lead you; a positive one and a negative one. Consider the negative thought processes: “These exams are difficult; I’m never going to pass., not to mention the fact that being this small and skinny I’ll never make the football team…Girls only like boys on the football team which means that girl I like isn’t going to be interested… I’m just a nobody and always will be.”

Realise that the following reaction is equally as possible if we choose the positive direction. “I’m going to work so hard for these exams that passing is inevitable, it’s going to be such a cool couple of weeks because I’ll have the time to get in shape and make the football team as well. It’s going to be awesome; I’m doing so well in my life”

What is Self-Esteem?

You know that picture that you have in your head of yourself? Who you are, how you look, your abilities and what your weaknesses are? This is the self-image that you have developed from a very young age. This self-image or mental picture that ID-10092501you have of yourself is affecting your self-esteem.

Our self-esteem is how much we believe that we are loved and valued by other people and how well we accept ourselves.  Develop a high self-esteem and you will feel great about who you are, you will be grateful for who you are and you will proud of all of your strengths and be excited to develop your weaknesses.

Unfortunately, if you have a low self-esteem for whatever reason, you end up believing that people don’t like you and you can never excel in anything.

We are all on a quest to improve our self-esteem and self esteem for teens is a touchy subject.  The reason that I discuss self esteem for teens, specifically, is because this is the time of our lives when we are trying to discover our identity and find our place in society. The exciting that I have found is that our self esteem is not fixed for life. One reason for this is that our self image is always changing and we can mould it positively with the right strategies.

Challenges with Self-Esteem

How we believe other people see us and how we see ourselves are two of the biggest contributing factors to self-esteem. When we are children and teenagers everyone from our parents to our teachers to our friends to our coaches impact the ideas that we form about ourselves. If any or all of these figures spend a lot of time criticizing a child then a healthy self-esteem is unlikely to develop. However, if these people are full of genuine, heartfelt praise then a high level of self-esteem is somewhat inevitable.

As teenagers the views of the people mentioned above can have a massive impact on what I call the ‘Little Voice’ in our own heads. Teens often end up criticizing themselves when really they are just hearing the voice of someone important in their life in their own head. The danger with this Little Voice if not addressed is that it can pick problems out with everything that we do.

As time progresses this negative little voice in a teens head causes as many problems with self-esteem as the voices of other people.

The wonderful thing about the ‘Little Voice’ that causes so much trouble is the fact that you can control it. You can transform this little voice into a positive one, with practice, of course.  You can use the voice that you hear in your head to coach you into being someone with qualities that you admire. It is a matter of re-training your self-image.

Quick Steps to Improve Self Esteem for Teens

  • Deliberatively focus on the great things in your life. Use the inner coach mentioned above to tell you about the positive things in your life. Write down three things that you are grateful for every day. [If that stubborn little voice tries to say that you’re not grateful for anything, stick with it and keeping asking “what am I grateful for?”
  • Focus On Progress not perfection
  • Experiment with different activities/sports/clubs so you can discover where your true talents lie.
  • Only control what you can control. If you feel yourself being negative about something in your life that you can control, start changing it today. However, if you are being negative about something that you can’t control (such as the colour of your eyes) take to time to appreciate yourself the way that you are.
  • Realise that every mistake is an opportunity to learn and do better next time.
  • Focus on some new goals. Think about some things that you’d like to achieve, and then start accomplishing the tasks required to achieve them. Click here to read about my 4 Wheel Drive Goal Setting System.
  • Get moving! You don’t have to love sports just do whatever feels the most fun. Swim, run, trampoline, whatever. You’ll notice how great that you feel afterwards.

Building a rock-solid self esteem can happen at any time. If you have been through something traumatic then you should start with a health professional to guide you through that experience first.  If you haven’t then you can start just by following the steps above.

You’ll notice how you’re new level of self-esteem is making every area of your life better. You’ll have more friends, you’ll be happy more often; you’ll do better at school and so much more.

The topic of self-esteem for teens is close to my heart as it is something that I had to deal with during my adolescence and I am so passionate about it I even wrote a short ebook about loving yourself as a teen! It may take some effort and commitment to develop your self-esteem and you have already made a giant stride for yourself or for the teenager in your life just by reading articles like this one.

Operate on Full Power

Full-PowerYou have seen them. The people that are making insanely quick progress in their lives and you have no idea how the hell they’re doing it. I don’t know what the secret is and I don’t think that I ever will. Why? Because there isn’t one. I am always striving to be like these people. These are the people that just GET IT DONE! My passion is turning you into one of those people. I care about you getting even better every single day at a crazy pace. The most powerful way to this is to constantly adopt the mindset of FULL POWER!

Think about the last time that you were running, lifting weights or working on your financial freedom. Next, truly ask yourself if you were giving it everything that you’ve got, leaving nothing on the table. Were you operating on full power or were you just going through the motions?

What I have found and still continue to realise is; if you want to get extraordinary results in your life you need to operate on Full Power every single day. It can be pushing out one more rep at the gym, continuing to work on your business until the early hours or making a conscious decision to step up a gear when things aren’t going your way.

My Full Power Principle is often met with conflict. You may be thinking: “what if I do all that and it doesn’t work?” and you may already be thinking that it just isn’t worth it. After all you could just sit around watch reality TV and do nothing every day, right? This is indeed the easy option, but at what cost? Not operating at full power means that you are missing out on becoming the absolute best version of yourself and achieving phenomenal long-term results in your life. It is vital that you get out of the mentality that revolves around ‘instant gratification’ and get clear on the fact that you could be wasting your life away without realising.

You have to be prepared for that pesky negative little voice in your head to show up when you decide to operate on full power. Let me prepare you for a few of the phrases it will throw at you. My guess is you have heard these phrases in your head before.

I just don’t feel like it.

My negative little voice knows that it is fighting a losing battle when it says this to me because I know that you can change the way you feel instantaneously! YOU control how you feel, not the weather, not the traffic, not everybody else….YOU DO! You can just decide that you want to operate on full power, right now.

I haven’t got time

You do have time. We all do and we all have the exact same amount every day. There are many situations that we are born into that are not equal but we’re all given 24 hours a day. Realise that this is just your negative little voice talking you out of it and make time!

I’m too tired

Really? As we speak there are people all over the planet that are pushing themselves to the absolute limit. Arnold Schwarzenegger once said on the topic of his daily 6 hours of sleep: “I know that some of you are thinking, wait a minute; I sleep 8 or 9 hours” he then said “just sleep faster, I would recommend”. What Arnie is saying is, if you want to get to where you want to get to in life you have to be prepared to shake off the feeling of being tired. This is actually pretty simple to do because tiredness is largely a state of mind which you can change in an instant and then ward off for the rest of your day with proper nutrition.

It’s time  to get in touch with every ounce of your potential, be prepared to go the extra mile and operate on full power. I think that you are ready to do this, otherwise you wouldn’t still be reading these words right now. Be prepared for the nonsense you may hear in your head, truly go for it and you will surprise yourself. You are ready for the chapter of your life where you achieve every goal that you set. Crank the dial up to full power and enjoy the ride!

How to Stay Motivated

ID-100260547You started off as the motivated person in the world but sustaining that level of motivation became impossible. Sound familiar? Maintaining high levels of motivation can be difficult at the best of times but what if your list of things to do grows and grows? What if your’re told to work late? What if you’ve just been rejected…again?

“People say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” Zig Ziglar

I wish that I could tell you that was some ‘Magic’ solution but there really isn’t. As Zig Ziglar rightly pointed out, motivation is something that needs to be topped up daily, even several times per day. If you had a lunch that was filled with Garlic and Onions and you were about to go on a date, you would brush your teeth again wouldn’t you? The same is true of motivation; if you started the day motivated and something happened to decrease your levels of motivation, it is now up to you to increase them again.

I have read, watched or participated in, literally hundreds of Motivational programs over the last few years and every person that I have come across has their own theories and strategies. I’ve put together a list of Five things that are integral to staying motivated, whether you a re wondering how to stay motivated to lose weight or about to tidy your garage!

ID-1002599531) Get in Touch with ‘Why’ you want to achieve it.

Whatever you do in this life there are always reasons for it. Even the most simple of tasks. This may not seem true at first but when you take some time to analyse what you are doing you will find good reasons.

If you have run out of motivation to complete a task and staying motivated has become impossible then you need to step back and find some strong ‘reasons’ in relation to why you’re doing it. Only then will your motivation start to return.

There are several categories of reason that can motivate you:

  • Getting Closer to a Big Goal – The most astounding successes in History were all built up over a period of smaller steps and unrewarding tasks that nobody saw. You may not be motivated to eat that Avocado Salad or to make those Cold Calls but recognising (truly recognising) that you are taking another step towards your ultimate body or that promotion you have been waiting for will feel great and the motivation will return.
  • Personal Gain – Focus on how much of a better person you are going to be and the things that you will learn as a result of the process and you will feel motivated to continue.
  • Material Things/ Financial Gain – Often we find ourselves de-motivated when people are actually paying us to be doing it. What things are you going to buy with the money? How much closer will you be to that vacation?
  • Feeling Like You Have Achieved Something – Notice how great you are going to feel when you had the discipline to complete a task that most people find so boring they don’t do it and don’t get ahead. You’re doing it and your getting ahead!
  • Honour the Memory of Loved One – This a massive one for me personally. I was very close to my Grandfather and when times get tough and motivation gets low I find myself saying “Go on, do it for Gramps”.
  • To Inspire Others – If your your family & friends (especially children) see you doing the difficult or boring things in order to get ahead in life they will be inspired and learn to do the same. Focus on this fact and watch how motivated you are to continue.

2) ‘Choose’ to have Fun

How is it that 2 different people can have totally different feelings towards the same task? One person hates it with a passion and the other person loves it with equal passion. The simple answer is some people have an amazing ability to make any activity pleasurable and interesting. We all have this ability within us. The important thing is being able to access it.

“Seek and Ye Shall Find”

You have to ‘look’ for ways that the task can be fun. As soon as you start looking for them, you will start to find them. The fastest way to change your focus to find the fun is to ask yourself some powerful questions:

  • What is the best way for me to enjoy this task?
  • How can I can make this task fun for me and everyone else involved?
  • What is the best way for me to make this the most enjoyable part of my day?

The brain is like a Supercomputer, keep asking a question and it has to deliver an answer. You will then have ideas as to how you make the activity enjoyable and as a bi-product, enhance your motivation.

Part of you may want to argue with this and say that there are many tasks that you simply ‘hate’! Although that maybe true, let me say this, I genuinely had fun cleaning up after my dog today. It’s all about the attitude.

ID-100986143) Acknowledge How Far You’ve Come

As I mentioned above you can easily break down any massive success into smaller steps. It really is sensible to divide your Big Goals up into smaller manageable chunks so you can track your progress. However, if you don’t acknowledge this progress you will become ‘stale’ and your motivation will fade.

The difference between monitoring your progress and acknowledging your successes is to celebrate each and every little accomplishment along the way. Why is it that the fans of Sports Teams celebrate every goal or point? It’s because they know that their team is getting closer to the ultimate goal of winning the game. You need to apply this in your life to stay motivated. For example, if you want to get to 10% Body Fat and you are currently at 20%, it is absolutely crucial that you give your self a pat on the back and celebrate when you get to 15%. This will condition your mind with positive thoughts and feelings when it comes to making progress.

For whatever reason we all want everything right now and even though we always divide the big task into smaller activities, we don’t allow ourselves to be happy until the BIG goal is achieved. More often than not this is a sure fire way to suck out any motivation you have and you’ll start to hear things in your head like “Is it really worth it?”. Let that voice know that it is worth it by truly recognizing and celebrating even the littlest of ‘wins’.

4) Give Yourself a Reward

All of my clients love this strategy! Rewarding yourself always feels good, doesn’t it? The great thing for us is, this is one of the most powerful ways to stay motivated available!

Before you start on pursuing a goal, decide on the ‘achievement milestones’ that will mean that is time to reward yourself. Whether the reward is having a break for 5 minutes for smaller tasks or buying yourself something nice for bigger task, rewards will have a positive effect on your motivation levels.

It is important that you do not hear other people’s voices in your head at this point. What I mean by this is; you may think that other people will say that what you have achieved isn’t worth a reward…It doesn’t matter what they would think! What matters is if YOU honestly believe that you deserve a reward then you deserve a reward. The more that you reward yourself with honesty and integrity when you reach your milestones the more motivated you will become.

5) Repetition

The only way to sustain motivation over a given period of time is to repeat the above steps every day, hour or even minute. Whatever works for you. This is not a definitive list but it is a start. You can add things in and take things away but let me tell you one thing, however you approach staying motivated, repetition is a must.

Without repetition your mind will ‘forget’ to be motivated. When I was an infant my parents had to call me ‘Jermaine’ over and over again until it was drilled into my psyche and, of course, I still get called Jermaine 25 years later! Repetition of any motivational strategies will deepen their impression on you as well.

I wish you the very best when it comes to staying motivated, whatever your Goal. You’re going to make it! You can click the picture below to read more about my e-book ‘How to Stay Motivated’

3 Lies you Need to STOP Telling Yourself

LiesYou have become an amazing storyteller over the years. You have become so good that all of the stories that you have been telling yourself about why you can’t get in shape, make more money or have your dream relationship have become so believable you should be winning awards. The problem is you keep telling the same stories and making the same excuses they are becoming engrained on to your mind and you are accepting them as reality.

It’s time to write some new stories, don’t you think? Create some new truths that you can live up to. There are 3 common, yet MASSIVE lies that you need to stop telling yourself:

1. “It’s Too Difficult”

Why is it Too Difficult?

It’s too difficult because you are thinking of whatever it is that you are trying to achieve as some Mammoth task as opposed to realising that it can be broken down into much more achievable goals. If I asked you could you run a Marathon tomorrow? The chances are the answer would be a definite ‘no’ (it certainly would be for me!). However, if I said; could you run a Marathon in 2 Years time? The answer is much more likely to be ‘Yes’.

Why the sudden change from ‘No’ to ‘Yes’? What difference would the Two Years make, you’d still be the same person, right?

The answer is simple: Training! You could run to the end of your street tomorrow couldn’t you? Then perhaps next week half a mile, then a mile and so on and so on.

Achieving anything can be broken down like this. It may be extremely difficult and unlikely that you will be a Millionaire by tomorrow but what if you gave yourself 10 years?

Saying that ‘It’s Too Difficult’ is a Lie that you tell yourself so that you don’t even start.

Start small and you’ll get to the Big Stuff.

2. “I’m Too Busy”

I still sometimes find myself saying this in my head and then I think “Jermaine, what makes you so different? Everyone has 24 Hours a Day; It’s up to you to use them wisely”

If you stopped telling this lie to yourself and really woke up to how much time you are letting slip by unnecessarily laying in when you’ve had 7 Hours sleep and you could be up catching up with your dreams. We all (me included) let time idly slip by when we are really doing a whole lot of nothing. Surfing the internet and flicking through the TV channels and the like are all things that get in the way of our progress because time ticks by anyway.

One of My Favourite Motivational Speakers Eric Thomas (aka ET the Hip Hop Preacher) has had a phenomenal journey that has seen him get to a point in his life where he confesses that if he is in bed at 3.45am he is “Running Late”. Are you prepared to adopt that ‘whatever it takes’ attitude to create more time for yourself and create the life that you really want?

I know that it may be a difficult realisation, but the notion of being too busy is a lie. You just aren’t making enough time for yourself yet.

3. No one Will Like the ‘New Me’

Being ‘Normal’ is Highly overrated and the second that you decide to commit to some Major Goal and Take Action you will be on the road to leaving normality. The thing that is holding you back is the lie that no one will Like the ‘New You’.

The Funny thing is that this isn’t a total Lie. There are indeed people in your life who are not going to be happy with the positive changes that you are going to make, they will subconsciously dislike this ‘change’ being thrust upon them. However, you do not necessarily want (or need) these people in your life anyway. The people that support your changes and encourage your development are the people that you should keep close.

The idea that ‘No One’ will like you if make positive changes is a Lie. Some people won’t and Lot’s of people will. I like the way American Comedian Bill Cosby Puts it “I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody”.
